Greg Cone testing the Vertical Four engine | Page 1 of 4 | Next » Testing a reproduction airplane is both a daunting challenge and a unique opportunity. The performance of the original is well known. If the reproduction is truly authentic, it will meet or exceed the recorded performance. If it passes this test, then it is possible the measure the performance of the machine beyond what was originally known, thus adding new knowledge about the machine. In the case of the Model B, three of the major components of the machine have been tested in laboratory environments: the engine in a dynamometer, and the airfoil and propeller in a wind tunnel. |
