The U.S. Air Force Band of Flight will perform a FREE concert to celebrate the opening of the new aviation art exhibit, "Fly Me To The Future," at the Air Force Museum, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the unveiling of 35 original paintings by John Clark, Robert McCall and Mark Waki, the Band of Flight will perform a concert featuring popular space-themed music. Interspersed throughout the concert will be recaps of music from the earlier art exhibits culminating with images of the new artwork on display.
This special concert will be held in the Museum's Modern Flight Hangar and is open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m. for open seating and no tickets are required.
The U.S. Air Force Band of Flight, based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, travels more than 100,000 miles each year, presenting more than 400 performances. Under the command of Lt. Col. Alan Sierichs, the 60-musician band supports a wide variety of official military, recruiting and community relations' events. The exhibit, "Fly Me To The Future," is part of a yearlong event, "A Centennial Celebration of Aviation Art," featuring more than 250 original paintings by acclaimed aviation artists, and will be on display through Dec. 31.
