Brief Description
|
|
Inventing Flight: The Centennial Celebration will
kick-off with the CITYFOLK Festival. The 2003
CITYFOLK Festival will highlight the music and
dance that have helped define America in the era
following the innovations of the Wright brothers.
It will feature the best in jazz, blues, gospel,
Cajun, country and bluegrass, as well as
traditional sounds from Ireland, Scotland and the
rest of the British Isles, Africa and Asia, South
America and the Caribbean. Festivalgoers can also
explore foods from around the globe, and interact
with the finest folk artists representing dozens of
ethnic crafts and arts. The invention of powered
flight has brought the world closer together. There
is no better example of this than the explosion of
interest in world music and the phenomena of how
musical styles from far-flung reaches of the world
influence one another as they please wider
audiences. |
