Brief Description
|
|
The world's only Aircraft Parade begins at 3:00 pm.
Antique tractors and autos pull light aircraft of
all descriptions through the city streets of New
Carlisle, just a stone's throw from Huffman Prairie
where the Wrights perfected the airplane. The Wright
Brothers and Wright aircraft replicas lead the
parade. This year will feature ALL SIX of the Wright
Brothers' experimental aircraft, from their earliest
glider to the 1905 Wright Flyer 3, the world's first
practical airplane. We'll line them up for the first
time ever so visitors can see the evolution of the
Wright brothers' inventive work. After the parade,
stick around for the Wright Brothers' Centennial Cup
competition -- prizes are awarded for the best
Wright aircraft replicas and models from all over
the world. Out-of-town participants are most
welcome. Just let us know you're coming so we can
schedule a tow vehicle. Fly into Barnhart
Memorial Airport several hours before the parade
starts. |
