Pioneer aviator, original member of Wright exhibition team. Born May 28,1870, date of death unknown. La Chapelle completed his flight training without informing Orville Wright of his poor eyesight, impaired by cataracts. His solo flight nearly ended with his flying into the Wrights' hangar. Well-liked nonetheless, he remained with the Wright team in various support roles.
